Quality audit
Eight-point premium website audit. Recommendation: Daylight Practice. These are complete implemented review options; no final direction has been selected.
| Criterion | Daylight Practice | The Build Index | The Project Room |
|---|---|---|---|
| Point of view | Strong — full-frame still life, centred image-integrated type, service stories and unequal project compositions. | Strong — the actual services form the opening; contents rail, dossiers and ledger make a compact directory. | Strong — full-size working brief preparation replaces hero artwork; visitor input drives the first experience. |
| Paired typography | Strong — Lexend display, Karla body; conventional letterforms, 43–132px headline, 18–24px main copy. | Strong — Chivo display, Source Sans 3 body; restrained 28–65px display hierarchy. | Strong — Plus Jakarta Sans display, Figtree body; labels, input and output retain a clear hierarchy. |
| Colour restraint | Strong — cobalt, rust orange, white, ink and pale blue; photography uses the same complementary family. | Strong — indigo, yellow, white, ink and grey; yellow is concentrated in the next-step section. | Strong — navy, mint, lilac, white and grey; colour distinguishes input/output, evidence and next step. |
| Hierarchy and whitespace | Strong — centred photographic opening, generous service passages, bounded media and readable price cards. | Strong — persistent contents, compact disclosures, project files and a comparison ledger. | Strong — a short introduction leads directly to the composer; evidence and prices follow in separate areas. |
| Imagery with intent | Strong — a generated editorial studio still life, with real approved JobPass and YLX website captures. Generated image is identified in the gallery. | Strong — real project website captures serve the dossiers; no decorative hero image is added. | Strong — the brief is a working control, and supplied project website captures supply the visual evidence. |
| Handcrafted motion and interaction | Strong — bounded image-viewer entrance and image inspection, finite hover feedback; native dialog supports Escape and focus return. | Strong — finite disclosure feedback and active reading navigation; no continuous animation. | Strong — live brief, selected-service feedback, copy/download status and explicit clipboard failure recovery. |
| Composed mobile layout | Strong — image-integrated centred type, a phone crop, stacked service passages and price cards; image dialogs fit 390px. | Strong — contents rail becomes a compact mobile disclosure and direct booking button; project files stack. | Strong — input precedes output on phones and narrow tablets; labels and controls remain full size. |
| Invisible details | Mixed — 98 performance, 100 automated accessibility; mobile LCP 2.4s misses the strict two-second target. CLS 0. Build, semantics, link and contrast checks passed. | Mixed — 99 performance, 100 automated accessibility; mobile LCP 2.1s misses the strict two-second target. CLS 0. Keyboard and mobile navigation passed. | Strong in local checks — 99 performance, 100 automated accessibility; mobile LCP rounds to 2.0s, CLS 0. Local copy and download worked. Field performance remains unverified. |
- Rendered desktop (1440×960) and phone (390×844) openings and complete pages for every direction. Additional local DOM/layout checks at 320, 768, 1024 and 1920px found no horizontal overflow, broken fragment targets, duplicate IDs or detected broken images. Final deployed smoke checks are recorded separately.
- Keyboard: image inspection opens with Enter, closes with Escape, and returns focus to its invoker; service disclosure shows a 3px focus outline. Mobile contents opens, navigates to prices and closes. Booking links match the approved Calendly URL; no real booking was submitted.
- Project Room: selected services and typed outcome update the brief. Copy and downloaded text were verified; the prior clipboard was restored. Nothing is sent to a server. Data is not persisted across page reloads.
- Reduced motion: source rules remove animations/transitions and smooth scrolling under prefers-reduced-motion. The browser tool did not expose preference emulation, so an actual OS preference switch was not verified. No JavaScript animation loop is present.
- Automated accessibility scored 100 on each local run; computed solid-colour contrast checks found no failures. The photographic text areas have dark gradient protection and were visually reviewed. These checks do not certify WCAG conformance or constitute screen-reader testing.
- The sub-two-second target remains missed by Daylight and the Index in the simulated local mobile runs. Image requests were deferred, fonts were subset through the official provider, and the photographic page paints before loading React interactions. Real-world and deployed field performance have not been measured. LCP is a specific paint metric, not total page load time.
- Tests used Chromium and the Codex in-app browser. Separate Safari and Firefox validation is unverified.
- 21st public catalogue references informed navigation and input grouping. Hosted AI generation is disabled for the account. No external source-upload review was attempted in this retry; the previous automatic approval review rejected source upload, so this collection uses local/browser audits.
- 1,927 existing files in the earlier projects and synced references match the baseline checksums. Existing Cloudflare projects and domains were not replaced. See verification/preservation-final.json.
Pages and visitor journey
All three pages serve suitable Australian SMEs and growing businesses. The purpose is to clarify the connected offer and turn interest into a qualified discovery conversation. The primary action is Book a discovery call. Daylight is an expressive browsing journey; the Index is a question-led service directory; the Room adds optional preparation before booking. The gallery compares complete implementations and links both previous collections.
Draft content boundaries
The service copy is a new review draft, using the approved three pillars and completed project descriptions. Starting prices reproduce the user's requested review values: A$197/A$297/A$497 per month, websites from A$699, bespoke solutions quoted to scope. Package inclusions, setup work and tax treatment are not invented. No testimonials, quantified results, customer claims, certifications or authorship claims were added.
Local simulated mobile measurements
Built site on localhost; default Lighthouse simulated mobile network and 4× CPU slowdown. Sequential runs. No field data.
